If its operation is not smooth remove the arm which may be connected by means of a clip or two on the underside or side of the sash. Press down on the arm to free the bushing from the track and then push out the window until the bushing clears the track.

How to repair awning windows. Place the handle over the crank stud insert the attachment screw and tighten. If the problem is with the levers or hinges then the crank moves but the window is hard to move or has become unhinged. If not you can adjust the position of the sash by slightly moving the hinge channel.

Step 2 look for clues. Clean and lubricate the arm. A broken crank will either be stuck or stripped. Step 1 identify the problem.

You need to identify the cause for window s malfunctioning. Fixing a sticking window if you have a window that drags against the frame when you open it close the window and examine it from the outside. Open the window until the crank arm guide bushing aligns with the notch in the guide track use a locking pliers for a crank handle and push out on the window to help it open. First check the moving parts.
